Hello Spring, welcome back! Today marks the first day of spring, and I love it, absolutely love it! I have lived in Wisconsin my whole life, I love spring, summer, and fall….and the beginning of winter, but not the long months of it. We have lucked out so far this year and have had a mild winter and now have been treated to some amazing weather for the past couple weeks. Hello, tomorrow is supposed to be 80 degrees! Crazy for that to happen in Wisconsin, that generally is reserved for July and August! But I love it, it can stay stay…please stay!!!!
Brainstorming for some menu planning for the weekend already. I happily got my hands on a copy of Pioneer Woman’s new cookbook, and I love it, and I am so excited to start cooking some new dishes from it! So hopefully will have some lovely and yummy dishes to post this weekend. But to be determined, my husband gets to put in requests for dinners on the weekends…so we shall see what ends up on the menu.
Happy, Happy Spring!
I have taken quite a bit of time away from my blog, but being inspired by so many bloggers, I am ready to get back into it.
So stayed tuned, I will be adding to my blog soon and continue my journey of cooking, hunting, and enjoying life.
I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. I personally am hoping this week it warms up and feels a bit more like spring. I am waiting for my yard to look green and beautiful as shown is a picture from last year.
Last night I made pan fried bluegill, homeade french fries, and homeade coleslaw…yum! It turned out very well!
Have a great week everyone!
Today started out with snow, yes more snow. As the big fluffy flakes came down it was hard to not to appreciate the beauty, even though I would have preferred rain coming down.
Vinny even wanted to go out and play for a while in the snow.
And then the thunder snow started, poor Vinny did not like that!
A busy day ahead, usual Sunday activities. Hoping since the weather isn’t very good outside, I can find a bit of time to sit by the fire and read a book. On tonight’s menu…pan fried bluegill, homeade french fries, and homeade coleslaw. Have a great Sunday everyone!
After last week’s snowstorm, it was another chilly and icy week. I am so ready for some warmer weather!
But some positive signs of spring are the Robins, who are sadly having to hop around in the snow, and the finches getting yellow.
After a stressful week, it was finally Friday night. My husband and I made a dinner consisting of Venison Tenderloin Steak (from one of the deer we harvested this past fall) with Caramelized Onions and Mushrooms and Gorgonzola accompanied by Asparagus…and of course a glass of Merlot. It was delicious!
After a nice Saturday spent with my mom I saw my dad for a bit and made him a nice ham sandwich, which made him very happy, I headed home and got dinner ready. Tonight Chicken Breast with Caramelized Onions and Mushrooms and Swiss Cheese. I also put together a salad of Boston Lettuce, Gorgonzola, Hazelnuts, Raspberries and a Balsamic Vinaigrette. Everything was very delicious.
Vinny and I are looking forward to a quiet Sunday, I think Vinny is ready for a lazy day. Have a great rest of your weekend everyone!
Wow…yum! Enjoyed a dinner of fried chicken, which was so moist, and some amazing homeade coleslaw and homeade buttermilk biscuits with a honey butter after a busy day for both me and my husband.
Hoping for a great week ahead. It is an important week for my family. My sister-in-law will have her first PET scan since starting chemo for lung cancer. We are all hoping for positive results for her and my brother. She is a strong woman who is a fighter and we are all hoping that the cancer can be beat. Much love to them, sending lots of positive thoughts and love. We should all be thankful for all we have….our health, the small things each day, and the love that surrounds us. And hope everyone remembers that the little things do matter. We are all fortunate in our own ways.
Sending positive thoughts and hoping for a wonderful week for everyone!
Sunday has arrived. It has been quite the week, with a snowstorm sweeping through the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
Poor Birds….still snowing….
Ahh….Finally stopped snowing….
Since we were stuck at home due to the snowstorm, Wednesday night called for a special dish, Shrimp Scampi. And was it delicious!
After the crazy snowstorm, I decided to make my husband a nice hearty breakfast consisting of Smoked Andouille Sausage, Homeade Hashbrowns, and Scrambled Eggs with Colby Cheese and Green Onions.
After a crazy week, the weekend arrived. My husband’s request for dinner this weekend was a Reuben Sandwich and Homeade Creamy Coleslaw. Both were so yummy! My husband even has a special treat of a Reuben Sandwich for his lunch today at work…lucky guy!
I have a busy day ahead, and although chilly, at least it is a sunny Sunday. Tonight, per my husband’s request, I will be making Fried Chicken and Homeade Coleslaw and I decided I am going to make some homeade buttermilk biscuits to go along with it…sounds like a good Sunday night dinner. Have a great Sunday everyone!
